With over 35 years of public and private sector experience in municipal/state government, transportation, and nonprofit operations, Jim Westmoreland is uniquely qualified to help you, your team and your elected officials develop and implement processes and projects that deliver results.

 

Jim has the ability to help you bring together diverse interests to achieve a common set goals, to help you improve organizational and policy issues and to effectively navigate the requirements of government entities to help ensure you project is developed on time, on budget, and most importantly, without surprises.

Jim recently served as the Interim Executive Director of Gateway Research Park, Inc. (a 501c3 nonprofit partnership between NC A&T State University and UNC Greensboro). In 2018, he retired from municipal government after serving for four years as the City Manager for the City of Greensboro. He has also previously served as a Deputy Secretary of Transportation for the State of North Carolina and has a passion for transportation safety and operations.

 

He has significant public and private sector experience working on very complex organizational, policy, and economic development projects and is a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina.  

​

Professionally, Jim is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Past President of the Southern District ITE and NC Section ITE, and a member of the International City/County Management Association.

​

He is also an Advisory Council Member of the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at NC State University, a Board Member for the Greensboro Science Center and the Greensboro Police Foundation, a Bank Director for the Bank of Oak Ridge, and a "North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine" award recipient.
